ABOUT US
Lancaster Swing Dance is a volunteer-sustained non-profit dedicated to providing a safe and consistent community space for social connection and creative expression through swing dancing. Originally founded in 2008 by local dancers and maintained by faithful volunteers, Lancaster Swing facilitated years of weekly dances in the gym of Living Hope Community Church on Columbia Avenue.
Dances are now held twice a month on every second and fourth Saturday. These take place predominantly in the historic Iris Club ballroom on Duke Street, with occasional dances hosted in Mulberry Arts Studio and West Art when the Iris Club has a conflicting engagement. Learn More
Valued as a regular destination for local swing dancers, the biweekly DJ’d dances also draw dancers from surrounding areas, like Philadelphia, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg. Each dance is preceded by a thorough beginner lesson (and often an intermediate lesson), which is included in the price of admission. Lancaster Swing also hosts special events throughout the year, including live band dances and the October weekend workship event Swing Aus.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Lancaster Swing Dance strives to host events prioritizing family friendly and connection-forward environments and compassionate, curious communication between individuals. Attendees at all events are asked to engage in mutual respect and care, and to honor Lancaster Swing Dance code of conduct (and our insurance policy which requires NO AERIALS ON THE DANCE FLOOR!).
